JO teams - A few items needed before we leave for Miami

12 and 14 Black parents and players. A few quick items that are needed before we head off to Miami. We will need a medical release form. It is basically the same form that was signed at the start of the year, however in California the document does not have to be notorized, but in Florida they require it. Also, please provide a copy of the player's birth certificate.

Before you leave, please fill out the form with notary approval and provide two copies of the medical release form and a copy of your/player's birth certificate to your head coach by the end of the week.

Payes 14 Black Wins Regional Finals Gold Championship Match

14 Black had another solid performance this weekend as they went through the early rounds of Regional Finals against teams that included Rage, SF Juniors, and Central Cal. The team would face a challenge in the Semi-Finals as they were battling fatigue and were down early against NorCal. After using both their time outs late in the game to catch their breath, 14 Black came back and would eventually win the match.

With a break between matches the team was able to rehydrate and rest and were ready for their match against Vision Gold. A re-match from just two weeks ago at the Far Westerns Qualifier where 14 Black beat Vision Gold to get into the Finals and earned their Open JO bid.

A close match that would go back and forth, Payes 14 Black would lose their first game of the weekend 29-31. 14 Black came back and would take game 2 by a score of 25-17. Another tense third game where Payes built an early lead and got to the switch over first but Vision mounted a comeback. With a few points to go, 14 Black closed the door with a score of 15-12 for the win in the Gold Championship Final.

In other Regional Final news, both 13 Black and 14 Cardinal had tough losses in the early rounds which knocked them both into Silver. Each team had excellent season in which they were in the Gold Division or in the top of their age bracket and just missed out on JO bids. 15 Black had a strong opening round winning their pool and finished the Regional Finals in the Gold Division.

Regional Championship Finals Update - All Payes Teams will be in Sacramento

Coach Jenica brought to our attention that the Power Regional playoffs are set up differently than in years past. Instead of the usual mix of ages (13-14, 15-16 etc.) this year Regional playoffs are divided by INDIVIDUAL age groups. Thus the odd age teams such as 13 Black and 15 Black that were on the cusp of Bronze, Aqua or Blue will be among the top 36 teams in the Regional Championship Division and in the hunt for a JO bid.

Regional Championships take place May 2-3, in Sacramento at either the Cal Expo or at the Sacramento Convention Center.

You can find more information on your respective final here NCVA Regional Finals
