17 Black (Head Coach)

Jen Agresti


Jen Agresti Jennifer was born and raised in Stockton, CA. She attended Saint Mary's High School and played four years of varsity volleyball and varsity basketball, earning Athlete of the Year honors twice. She was later inducted into the City of Stockton Athletic Hall of Fame. Growing up Jennifer played club volleyball for Delta Valley. She was a two time All-American at Junior Olympics, earning that honor in the 1993 Junior Olympics Open Division and again the following year at the 1994 Junior Olympics Open Division.

After St. Mary's High School, Jen accepted a full scholarship to Washington State University. She played outside hitter and made the All-Freshmen team in her first season with the Cougars. Washington State University finished 5th in the National rankings that year.

Jen's coaching experience started in 2005 as head JV coach at Saint Francis high school. In four seasons at Saint Francis, Jennifer's teams were league Champs all 4 years. 3 out of those 4 years, her team went undefeated. Most recently Jennifer has coached at Vision and City Beach volleyball clubs winning Junior Olympic medals in the Open Division. Last season, her Payes 16 Black team finished 1st in NCVA and finished in the top 13 in the open division at Junior Nationals.

Away from the volleyball court, Jennifer resides in Belmont with her two daughters, Gabriella and Adrianna, and her husband Anthony who is a captain for San Mateo Fire Department. Jen also enjoys cycling, wake surfing, and running.




17 Black (Assistant Coach)

Amy Yribarren


Amy Yribarren Poullos Amy was raised in Stockton and attended Saint Mary's high school. Along with head coach Jennifer Agresti, Amy played varsity volleyball and led the team to a 33-3 record with a #3 national ranking. As varsity captain in 1994, she earned San Joaquin County Athlete of the Year honors.

She would continue her volleyball career at UC Berkeley, where she was a starting setter, earning a varsity letter two years in a row. Amy co-coached at Golden Bear Volleyball Club in 1998. Last season, her 16-Black team finished first in the NCVA and finished 13th in the Open field at Jr. Nationals.

She completed her nursing education in 2007 and currently works as a R.N. at Munyon Dermatology in Redwood Shores. Amy continues to play volleyball recreationally, and also enjoys competing in triathlons.






17 Cardinal (Head Coach)

Nicole Annaloro


Nicole Annaloro Nicole grew up in Arcata, CA and went to Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) where she was a staple in the Argonauts lineup during her four years there, earning MVP honors as a senior and being named a team captain three times. She also ranks third in school history in career assists. This is Nicole's 2nd year as the Head Coach for her alma mater, Notre Dame Damur University, located in Belmont, CA.

Previously, Nicole coached at Truckee High School for four years. At Truckee she compiled a 91-16 overall record while posting a 46-4 league record from 2007-2009. Annaloro was named Nevada 3A State Coach of the Year three times while leading her team to a state title in 2009. Truckee also reached the State Championships in 2007 and 2008 while winning the Northern Nevada League in 2007 and 2008. Prior to Truckee, Annaloro was the Head Coach at Notre Dame High School for seven seasons while also helping out with the NDNU program in 2001 and 2002.

When Nicole is not coaching or playing volleyball, she is compelled to make the drive to Tahoe to hike, mountain bike or go snowboarding. In addition, Nicole enjoys her summer months behind the boat wakeboarding or surfing.




17 Cardinal (Assistant Coach)

Nicole Wickstrom


Nicole Wickstrom Nicole was born and raised in Redwood City, California. She began playing volleyball in fourth grade, and started playing club volleyball in sixth grade. Nicole played for various clubs in the Bay Area. She attended and played volleyball at Sacred Heart Prep High School in Atherton, CA. After graduating high school, Nicole attended Cal Poly, San Louis Obispo. Later, Nicole transferred to the University of San Francisco. She studied abroad in Florence, Italy during the spring semester of her junior year. She is currently in her senior year pursuing her Bachelor's degree in English Literature with a Minor in Child Youth Studies. She then plans to obtain her Master's degree in Education.

Her volleyball coaching experience includes coaching at St. Joseph's Elementary, Peninsula Juniors 12-Gold and 14 Gold, Burlingame Sports Center 13-Orange, and most recently for Peninsula Tribe-18, a boys volleyball program.

Nicole is excited to become part of Payes Performance Volleyball Club this season and continue her passion for coaching girls volleyball. In her free time, Nicole enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, eating sushi, and exploring San Francisco.



17 Cardinal (Assistant Coach)

Taylor James Chung


Taylor James Chung Taylor began playing volleyball at Saint Francis High 99-00. and played club volleyball for Susox 16s in '99, South Bay 17s '00, and The Rhinos from City Beach in an adult club '02. After high school, he has also been playing grass doubles and quads in the Bay Area for various organizations such as NoDinx, Vbmatch, and Volleyzoo, and has switched permanently turned to coed and men's sand volleyball in '03. He played for Die Berliners in Berlin, Germany '08, and lastly KFUM Goteborg,

He began coaching sand volleyball in San Diego at UCSD. While in Europe, Taylor coached a 17s and 14s team at the organization KFUM in Goteborg, Sweden. After returning to the US, he has coached at the Wornick Jewish Day School, Foster City for the past three years, and most recently coached at Eclipse Volleyball Club, Summit Prep, and Carlmont High School.





16 Black (Co-Head Coach)

David Huan


David Huan A transplant from Southern California, David earned his degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and has enjoyed living in Northern California ever since.

Professionally, David works at an education program based out of Stanford University. He is also avidly involved with Business Development, Sports Investment Analysis, SAT Tutoring, and is engaged in the E-Sports scene.

Over his last 6 club seasons he has coached 7 teams to Junior Olympics/Nationals. Last season, his 13s team finished in the top 5 at Nationals in Atlanta, GA. During off-club seasons David has also coached at St. Francis-Mtn. View, Menlo-Atherton High School, Palo Alto High School, and Notre Dame de Namur University.

In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his college cronies, traveling with his girlfriend, and pwning n00bs and nerds alike at Starcraft while maintaining his swag in the process.




16 Black (Co-Head Coach)

Scott Mar


Scott Mar Scott a Bay Area native, enjoys playing in a variety of sports throughout the year, which includes adult softball, bowling and volleyball leagues. He also enjoys exploring new extreme sports when time permits, including snowboarding, wake-boarding, white water rafting, and skydiving.

He has coached at El Camino High School (JV and Varsity) and currently at Notre Dame High School in Belmont (JV). He has been with Payes for 5 years and coached 16 Black (2008), 15 Black (2009), 14 Cardinal (2010), 13 Cardinal (2011) and I look forward to awesome seasons with 16 Black and 12 Cardinal this upcoming 2012 season. *shoulder bump*

Scott enjoys helping out as many teams as possible while at Payes, but in his free time he finds happiness spending time with his gf, family and friends. He also enjoys the humors in life and listens to comedy concerts. He hopes to cruise around the world someday but will settle for light traveling and the holidays at Disneyland.





16 Black (Assistant Coach)

Mia Ortiz


Mia Ortiz Mia was born and raised in Redwood City, Ca. She graduated from Woodside High School in 2007. While at Woodside she was a four -year Varsity volleyball and soccer starter. Her high school volleyball accomplishments were being named 2nd team-all league her freshman, sophomore, and junior year and 1st team all league her senior year. Mia played club volleyball at Vision, Yahoo, and City Beach.

She continued her volleyball career at Menlo College and played all four years. She helped lead her team to Nations in 2008 and 2009. Her accomplishments while at Menlo College was being named 2nd team All-Cal Pac section her freshmen and junior year, and honorable mention AVCA All-Region Libero her junior year. She is also ranked in the Menlo College record books for career digs (9th) and in career service aces (5th). In 2011, Mia graduated from Menlo College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Management.

Mia is entering her fifth season with Payes and has been with the club since her freshman year at Menlo College. When she is not coaching, she loves to stay active, whether it is playing in different volleyball and soccer leagues, going to the park, or running to stay in shape.




16 Cardinal (Head Coach)

Kyle Mashima


Kyle Mashima Kyle grew up in Hawaii and learned volleyball at the YMCA. He played for his high school and continued to play in college as a member of the Stanford University men's team. He also coached the men's team for 2 years in transition from club to varsity status. Passionate about volleyball, Kyle has continued to play both indoor and beach volleyball.

Drawn back to coaching, Kyle returned to coaching 6 years ago when his son became interested in volleyball. He has coached at Woodside High School for 4 years and he is the current varsity head coach. This will be his 5th club season. Last year he coached the Nexxt 16-1 team to a 3rd place finish in the Bay Area portion of the 16s Area league.

Kyle has written articles for USA Volleyball and Coaching Volleyball magazines. He teaches coaching clinics for USAV and the AVCA and is a specialist on "rotation optimization." After receiving his IMPACT, CAP and GMS certifications, he has become an ardent convert to statistical methods in sports. He's a big fan of "Moneyball."

Kyle is a veteran Silicon Valley software entrepreneur. His interests in volleyball and software have converged with his latest startup Rotate 123 . The service helps coaches automate their team planning. When not working, Kyle enjoys spending time with his wife, Nancy, son, Kai and dogs - Poncho and Lizzie.





16 Cardinal (Assistant Coach)

Robin John Rosales


Robin John Rosales Robin grew up in Redwood City and went to college at UCSB where he graduated with a BA in Political Science. He is a video game industry veteran working in the business development, sales, marketing and PR fields for companies including PC Gamer, PlayStation Magazine, the Microsoft Xbox launch and Ubisoft. He is currently handling advertising sales for the mobile games site Wireless Gaming World and the PR Manager at the games portal site ijji.com - NHN USA.

Thoroughly passionate about volleyball, Robin has coached at various age levels from grade school to college teams. He coached high school volleyball at Woodside High School for five seasons where they had four CCS appearances and won back to back PAL Bay League titles, and at Sacred Heart Prep for two years where the JV team and the Freshman team the following year had undefeated league seasons. In 2010, Robin also helped coach at Notre Dame Namur University, a NCAA Div II team playing in the PacWest Conference. One of the original members of Paye's Performance Volleyball, in 2008, Robin's 13 Black Team earned a National bid for the Junior Olympics in Dallas, Texas. The following year in 2009, his 14 Black team earned the clubs first Open Divison bid, held in Miami, Florida. They finished Top 20 in the nation and the top ranked 14s team in Northern California. His 15 Black team earned an Open Division bid in 2010. The next year in 2011, his 14 Cardinal team became the clubs first Cardinal team to garner a Junior National bid, held in Atlanta, GA. Robin is currently coaching at Castilleja High School and looks forward to another exciting year of Payes volleyball.

When he is not on a volleyball court, Robin enjoys spending time with his girlfriend Sally. Other interests include participating in various sports, traveling, collecting souvenir and GIANT items, photography, web design, and working on his sports apparel start up Firebird Sports which he co-founded.




16 Cardinal (Assistant Coach)

Anne Luchetti


Anne Ulrich Anne Luchetti was born and raised in Central Illinois and relocated to the Bay Area just over 8 years ago. Anne's volleyball career started in the small town of Washburn, IL where she was a 4 year varsity starter. Anne spent the first 2 years of her collegiate career at Illinois Central College where her team finished 5th & 9th at the National Junior College Athletic Association Championships. She then continued her career at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and helped lead her team to the NCAA Division II Sweet 16. Anne stayed on at SIUE for an additional 2 years and completed her Master's Degree in Education.

Since moving to California, Anne has continued her involvement in volleyball through coaching and playing. Anne has been the assistant varsity coach at Notre Dame Belmont for the past 8 seasons. When not coaching, Anne continues to play in indoor adult volleyball leagues and on the beach. Anne competes in CBVA tournaments and has held an 'AA' rating.

Professionally, Anne works in the Insurance industry as a Learning & Development Specialist. In her free time she enjoys watching sports, hiking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.




15 Black (Head Coach)

Marietta Flynn


Marietta Flynn Marietta was born and raised in Louisville, KY and New Albany, IN. She was a 2003 graduate of New Albany High School and a four-year varsity player on her nationally-ranked volleyball team as an outside hitter. As the team's captain her senior year, Marietta lead her team to a 28-3 record earning MVP honors and the Overall Top Female Athlete Award. In her graduating class of 700 students, she was recognized as the Top Scholar-Athlete. Marietta also won the Gold Medal at the 2000 USA Volleyball Junior Olympics playing for Kentucky Indiana Volleyball Academy (KIVA).

She attended Santa Clara University and graduated with Honors in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance. She played libero during her college career as she trained with the NCAA Division I Top 25 volleyball team and in her junior and senior year, joined the SCU club team ranked Top 3 nationally both years, finishing 5th at Nationals in 2006 and going undefeated in 2007.

Marietta enters her fourth season coaching at Payes. Marietta coached the 14 Black team in 2009, 2010, and 2011 earning Open Division bids at Junior Nationals each year. This past season she led her team to #1 place finishes at the Far Westerns Reno Qualifier-14 Open Division and California Kickoff and finished Top 15 in the nation at the Junior Nationals Open Division.

Marietta is a CPA and is currently the Accounting Manager for IntelePeer in San Mateo, CA. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with her family and friends, going to the movies with her boyfriend, singing, and eating Thai food!




15 Black (Assistant Coach)

Lawrence Dudash


Lawrence Dudash Born and raised in the small coastal town of Half Moon Bay, Lawrence grew up surfing, hiking, and playing beach volleyball. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Cal State East Bay, and works as an independent stock market research analyst.

Lawrence started playing volleyball in high school and continued to play during college, where he was a setter and right-side hitter. After college he played in the CBVA tournaments in Santa Cruz and now mostly plays beach volleyball in Half Moon Bay with his friends.

Lawrence started coaching volleyball in 2000. He has coached high school volleyball for 5 years at Half Moon Bay, 2 years at Menlo Atherton, and 1 year at Menlo High School. He started coaching club volleyball in 2003 and has been with Paye's since it was founded. He is passionate about volleyball, thrives on competition, and the challenge of creating great volleyball teams. Lawrence has coached volleyball successfully at every age level. Over his last 6 club seasons he has coached 6 teams to the Junior Olympics. Most recently, he helped the Payes 13-1 team earn a 5th place finish at the Junior National Championships in Atlanta, GA. He is also the Paye's Performance Volleyball Club Director.

Other interests for Lawrence include cooking, traveling, and the occasional ski trip to Lake Tahoe. Most importantly, he loves spending as much time as possible with his lovely wife Janet and two daughters Samantha and Natasha.

15 Black (Assistant Coach)

Kelly Burke


Kelly Burke Kelly was born and raised in Redwood City where she attended Sequoia High School. She recently graduated from San Francisco State with a degree in Recreation Administration and hopes to continue her work with the community.

This is Kelly's fifth year coaching at Paye's Performance, coaching the 15s team in 2007 and and in 2008 which won a national bid to the Junior Olympics in Dallas, TX. In 2010, she coached the 12 Black team which also won a national bid in Reno, Nevada and last season her 14 Cardinal team became the first Payes Cardinal team to make Junior Nationals.

She was a 4 year varsity player at Sequoia High School and played as an outside hitter at Canada College / Skyline College Volleyball and the San Francisco State Volleyball teams.

When she is not coaching or playing volleyball, she enjoys going out with friends, works out, and spends time with her family. She is looking forward to a great season with Paye's Performance again this year!




15 Cardinal (Co-Head Coach)

Laura Kroneberger


Laura Kroneberger Laura has recently transplanted from Southern California where she was born and raised. After graduating from Los Alamitos High School in 2003 she attended UCLA and pursued a degree in Psychobiology. She is presently working in the biotech industry.

While attending Los Alamitos High School Laura was a three year varsity player and captain there earning All-League, All-CIF Academic Team, and All-State honors during her tenure. Her senior year the team won the CIF 1-AA Title. Laura played libero for Cal Jrs Volleyball Club and Goldenwest Volleyball Club taking 2nd place three times and 5th another three times in the Junior Olympics Open Division. Laura played NCAA Division I volleyball for the UCLA Bruins as a Libero. While playing at UCLA, the team made appearances in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen, Elite Eight twice, and the Final Four.

This will be Laura's first year coaching at Payes Performance after 6 years of coaching for Sunshine and Sports Shack Volleyball Clubs in Southern California. She's also coached two season of JV volleyball at Marlborough School.

When Laura is not coaching she enjoys trips to the beach, shopping, hanging out with friends and family, being spontaneous, watching sports, and discovering novel things in her new Bay Area surroundings.




15 Cardinal (Co-Head Coach)

Elise Carstensen


Elise Carstensen Elise grew up in Atlanta, GA and attended The Westminster Schools, where she played volleyball and ran track. She received All-State Honors all 4 years, and after losing in the volleyball state finals her freshman year, she led her team to 3 consecutive state championships, 2002-2004. She was team captain, and was named the Georgia "Gatorade Player" of the Year both her junior and senior year. Her senior year, she commuted from Georgia to California to train with Mizuno Long Beach. In 2011, she was elected into The Westminster Athletics Hall of Fame.

She played NCAA Division I volleyball for the UCLA Bruins. She played in a Final Four in 2006, and was an Honorable Mention for the 2007 Pac-10 All-Academic Team. She has a Psychology degree from UCLA. She coached 3 years with Sports Shack in Southern California. She has coached at the 14s, 16s and 18s levels. She was also at Marlborough High School for 2 years, where she coached both the Freshman and Varsity teams. This is her first year with Payes Performance Volleyball Club.

Elise works at imo, a tech start-up in Palo Alto, and in her spare time, she plays with her dog, Winston.




15 Cardinal (Assistant Coach)

Diana Douglas


Diana Douglas A local California girl, Diana grew up on the peninsula in Woodside and went to Woodside High School. She would move on to the sunny beaches of Southern California where she recently graduated with a BA in Life Science: Psychology at UCLA and is currently preparing for post graduate studies.

Diana was a four year varsity player at Woodside High School where she played as an outside hitter and earned all-league honors during all four years including Peninsula Bay League MVP honors in 2003 and 2004. She earned CCS State Honorable Mentions as a junior and senior. Diana played club volleyball for City Beach, Golden Bear and Vision. Her club teams qualified for the Junior Olympics in four of the last five years. Diana also played with the US A-3 National Team. In college, Diana played on the UCLA Volleyball team as a defensive specialist and received the Most Improved Player honors after her sophomore year.

This will be Diana's fourth season coaching club volleyball and third at Payes Performance. In 2009, she coached the Sunshine 13 Crimson team based out of Los Angeles which earned a National Bid at Junior Olympics in Miami, Florida. When she is not on the hardwood or sand court, Diana likes to play around with her microscope as well as enjoy a fine meal at Celia's Mexican food or Yogurt Land when she is in Southern California. Her favorite place outside of California is Hana on the island of Maui, Hawaii.

Jessica Atthowe


Jessica Atthowe Jessica was born and raised in the Bay Area in San Leandro. Growing up in the East Bay she attended Bishop O'Dowd High School where she played on varsity for two years and helped win an NCS title in 2007. Jessica played club for Xceleration volleyball club and NorCal volleyball club. In her 18's year, her NorCal team earned a bronze medal in the American division in the Junior Olympics.

After high school Jessica went to southern California to play at Golden West College. She transferred back up north to Menlo College after her sophomore year and is currently playing in her final season.

Jessica returns to Payes for her second year after a fun first season assistant coaching the 12 Cardinal team.

14 Cardinal(Assistant Coach)

Dwight Crump


Dwight Crump Dwight graduated from Madera High School in Madera, California where he was a 3-sport varsity athlete in football, basketball and track. He was a High School All-American in Track and Field in 1975 and 1976. He attended and earned his B.S. in Industrial Arts from Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo where he played college football for four years. Dwight has worked as an engineer for the past 29th years. Dwight started playing volleyball in elementary school and started coaching volleyball in 1983. He enjoyed playing and coaching competitive recreation coed volleyball teams for adults where his team won 9 competitive coed recreation titles and 1 competitive coed recreation championship title. His volleyball coaching career with junior high athletes spans 16 plus years (including same years coaching track and field). Dwight has been coaching elementary school volleyball at St Gregory School in San Mateo where his teams have won 8 league titles. In 2010 he guided his 8th Varsity team to a perfect 10-0 season including league and division championships titles. He also has provided individual volleyball conditioning and training for junior high, high school and college students in preparation for their school volleyball season. This is Dwight second year coaching at Payes Performance Volleyball Club. Last season he coached the Payes Performance Volleyball 14 White team.

Dwight is interested in and enjoys coaching volleyball, track & field, and basketball, and staying fit. When he is not coaching he enjoys spending time with family and friends.




14 Cardinal (Assistant Coach)

Sarah Bagaman


Sarah Bagaman Sarah is entering her fifth year of coaching club volleyball. This year will be her fourth year at Payes. In the past, Sarah has coached both high school and club volleyball. In 2009 Sarah was the head coach for the Frosh team at St. Mary's Berkeley High School. In 2008, Sarah co-head coached for Slainte 13-1. Sarah has coached the Payes 14 Black team the past three seasons from 2009-2011, in which each team has qualified for Open Bids at Junior Nationals.

She graduated from California State University East Bay with a degree in Kinesiology with a focus in nutrtion and welless. She attended Notre Dame de Namur University for her first two years of college and was a member of the NCAA Division II volleyball team. Sarah went to Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep in San Francisco and played volleyball in the competitive West Catholic Athletic League. Her team made multiple appearances in the NorCal Finals and State Finals. Her high school team was recognized as CCS Champions and she received All-WCAL honors in both her junior and senior year. Her team also won the Academic Award for the region every year. She was an outside hitter in high school and a libero in college.

When Sarah isn't coaching volleyball she's busy working as a make-up artist for Chanel Cosmetics. Sarah also enjoys shopping, walking her Westie terrier, hanging out with friends, working out, sleeping, and eating as much Japanese food as possible!

Herman Yee


Herman Yee Herman, is a Bay Area transplant since 1997. Herman is USA Volleyball's Impact, CAP I and Gold Medal Squared certified and has received additional training at USA Volleyball's HP Coaches Clinics in Colorado Springs and is currently pursuing his CAP II certification.

He started coaching by helping out with various boys and girls teams at I Dig VBC while also being the club administrator. His first full-time head coaching position was at Menlo-Atherton HS where he guided the 2002 JV team to a 2nd place finish in the PAL league. Since 2004, he has been at Sacred Heart Prep (Atherton) in various coaching capacities coaching the Freshman, JV and Varsity teams. In 2010, the SHP Varsity team won CCS section title, Norcal title and was the State Finalist. Last season, his Storm 14-1 team took 1st place in the Silver Division of the league regional finals. In the summer of 2011, he was an assistant coach for the NCVA Select White team that went to the USAV HP Championships in Tucson, Arizona.

With a Chemistry degree, Herman has worked as a scientist for various local Bay Area biotech companies. An avid bowler prior to being a volleyball enthusiast, he competes on the league level as well as local tournaments.

Brian Wilt


Austin Zimmerman Austin is a recent Bay Area transplant originally from Scottsdale, Arizona. She is entering her fifth year of club volleyball coaching. Last season, Austin led the Payes 12s to a 5th place finish at Junior Nationals in Atlanta and an undefeated season in the NCVA. Before that, she led the Eclipse 12s to successful seasons in 2009 and 2010, and coached Menlo Park's Hillview Middle School team. While previously living in Virginia, Austin coached high school level teams at Virginia Elite and Washington-Lee High School. She is Gold Medal Squared certified. As a coach, Austin values a good work ethic, a positive attitude, a competitive spirit, a big smile, and a love for the sport of volleyball. She is looking forward to a great 13s season at Payes!

Austin graduated from MIT in 2006 with degrees in physics and management science. She served as MIT's starting setter for 4 years and was a 3 year captain and named 3 times as an honorable mention All-American. After two years working in the DC area at Homeland Security Institute, Austin traveled around the globe eventually settling in the Bay Area where she has been working for the past three years at DemandTec, an analytical marketing software company in San Mateo. In her spare time, Austin plays in local volleyball leagues, works out, and loves to travel. Austin and Brian married this fall and are excited to celebrate their first season as a husband-and-wife team.

An Allentown, Pennsylvania native, Brian recently relocated to the Bay Area. His wife Austin introduced him to coaching volleyball in 2007, and he has been hooked ever since. Brian loves working with kids and coaching volleyball. He is Gold Medal Squared certified. He values development, technique, and sportsmanship and looks forward to another fun, successful season at Payes.

Brian graduated in 2007 from MIT with a degree in physics and minors in math and management. While at MIT, he earned his teaching certificate in Massachusetts. He received his MS in Applied Physics at Stanford in 2009, and he is continuing his studies there toward his PhD. His thesis work centers on deducing fundamental physical limits of optical technology for monitoring cellular activity in the brain. Besides coaching volleyball and studying neuroscience, Brian can be found playing his guitar and piano, tinkering with his car, playing with cameras and videos, and caring for his fish.




13 Cardinal (Head Coach)

Richard Wong


Richard Wong Richard was born and raised in San Francisco. He loves almost every kind of sports from baseball to basketball, snow skiing to wakeboarding, and most importantly volleyball. After attending San Francisco State University, he works as a Network and Systems Architect for a scientific instruments company in the peninsula.

Prior to joining Paye's Performance, he had coached club volleyball for 6 season in San Francisco, including coaching grade school programs for the past 15 years, as well as being the volleyball program coordinator for the school. He has coached various age groups ranging from 12s to 16s through his club seasons.

During times when he is not working away from the office or traveling for business, he enjoys photography, hiking, wakeboarding, and having a great time with friends and family members.

Julie Hootnick


Julie Hootnick Julie, a native to the bay area grew up in Palo Alto, where she attended Gunn High school. After moving to Boston for college, followed by a few years at the Beach in LA, she recently returned back to the Bay Area.

She started her volleyball career in middle school, when she began playing club volleyball in the Bay Area. At Gunn, Julie played three years of Varsity volleyball. She started as a Right-side hitter, but eventually moved to the Outside, where she earned All-League honors and was named as Solo Captain her senior year. In addition to representing Gunn, Julie also played four years of club volleyball, at Mission Valley VBC. Julie went on to play college volleyball at Brandeis University, where she started as OH all four years. Brandeis is part of the UAA athletic conference, which includes Washington University in St. Louis and Emory University, two of the top Division III schools in the country. While playing at Brandeis, Julie earned All-League honors her sophomore year and Second-Team honors her junior and senior years. She was also nominated captain of the Brandeis volleyball team two years in a row. Julie is most proud of having held the all time kill record at Brandeis, having earned 1,717 kills in her four years there. After college, Julie moved to Manhattan Beach, California, where she continued to play volleyball in various beach and indoor leagues.

This will be Julie's fourth year coaching volleyball and her first with Payes. During her time outside of coaching or working, she enjoys yoga, camping and eating (sushi is a favorite!). Julie is also an avid skier. During the wintertime, if she is not in a gym, she can likely be found on the slopes in Tahoe.

Tony Holland


Tony Holland

Tony, his wife and two daughters moved to the Peninsula from Washington in 2004. Following graduation from Loyola Marymount University, Tony has kept himself involved in the game of volleyball as an adult league player and a youth coach. Tony currently coaches both his daughters school teams and is in his 4th season as the Volleyball Commissioner and Athletic Director at St Matthew Catholic in San Mateo.

With an emphasis on proper technique, fundamentals and playing the game the right way, Tony is looking forward to working with a talented group of athletes in the 2011 club season.

Danielle Dahl


Danielle Dahl Danielle was born in Long Beach, CA and grew up in Olympia, WA. She played middle blocker for Tumwater High School -- a school known for its strong volleyball program, which went on to win PAC 9 divisional championships in 2004 and 2005. She received numerous awards for her play and a scholarship, including her selection to play in the Washington All State game in 2006. She also played four years of club volleyball.

Club season 2010/2011 was Danielle's first year as assistant coach for Budd Bay Volleyball Club. She gets so much inspiration from working with young athletes. She plans on carrying the many lessons learned from her past coaches and looks to impart that knowledge to her players in her first season with Payes Performance.

Danielle's passion for adventure makes her life filled with excitement, great people, and new opportunities. She recently just moved to the Bay Area in July 2011, where she currently is working in accounting.When she isn't playing volleyball; she goes hiking, camping, and snowboarding, pretty much anything to do with the outdoors. She loves to spend every moment with her beautiful family and friends.

Lawrence Dudash


Lawrence Dudash Born and raised in the small coastal town of Half Moon Bay, Lawrence grew up surfing, hiking, and playing beach volleyball. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Cal State East Bay, and works as an independent stock market research analyst.

Lawrence started playing volleyball in high school and continued to play during college, where he was a setter and right-side hitter. After college he played in the CBVA tournaments in Santa Cruz and now mostly plays beach volleyball in Half Moon Bay with his friends.

Lawrence started coaching volleyball in 2000. He has coached high school volleyball for 5 years at Half Moon Bay, 2 years at Menlo Atherton, and 1 year at Menlo High School. He started coaching club volleyball in 2003 and has been with Paye's since it was founded. He is passionate about volleyball, thrives on competition, and the challenge of creating great volleyball teams. Lawrence has coached volleyball successfully at every age level. Over his last 6 club seasons he has coached 6 teams to the Junior Olympics. Most recently, he helped the Payes 13-1 team earn a 5th place finish at the Junior National Championships in Atlanta, GA. He is also the Paye's Performance Volleyball Club Director.

Other interests for Lawrence include cooking, traveling, and the occasional ski trip to Lake Tahoe. Most importantly, he loves spending as much time as possible with his lovely wife Janet and two daughters Samantha and Natasha.

Darryl Chan


Darryl Chan Darryl is a local homegrown product having been raised in Foster City and attending San Mateo High School. He has played volleyball for over 25 years and has coached at the middle school and club level for the past three years. Last year, he coached the Payes 12 Cardinal team to an 8th place finish in the NCVA. His 12 Cardinal team also competed in the Crossroads Qualifier in Denver last season and took an 8th place including a victory over the team that went on to take 2nd place at Junior Nationals. He has a passion for coaching volleyball but more importantly on how the sport of volleyball can influence young women to develop character, dedication, and excellence. He is a double-goal certified coach through the Positive Coaching Alliance and believes that being positive and competitive are not mutually exclusive.

Darryl has a managerial economics degree from UC Davis and a graduate degree in clinical psychology from the University of Hawaii. He is a partner in the market research firm, i3rg, as well as manages a real estate investment group. He has been married for 18 years to his bestest best friend, Jennifer, and they are raising three wonderfully odd children. They are members of Sturge Presbyterian Church in San Mateo. Outside of volleyball, he enjoys reading, longboard skateboarding, playing Starcraft 2, and photography. But most of all, he enjoys seeing his children learning to be alive in their passions, aware of their God-given purpose and excited about how they enact positive change in their community.

Scott Mar


Scott Mar Scott a Bay Area native, enjoys playing in a variety of sports throughout the year, which includes adult softball, bowling and volleyball leagues. He also enjoys exploring new extreme sports when time permits, including snowboarding, wake-boarding, white water rafting, and skydiving.

He has coached at El Camino High School (JV and Varsity) and currently at Notre Dame High School in Belmont (JV). He has been with Payes for 5 years and coached 16 Black (2008), 15 Black (2009), 14 Cardinal (2010), 13 Cardinal (2011) and I look forward to awesome seasons with 16 Black and 12 Cardinal this upcoming 2012 season. *shoulder bump*

Scott enjoys helping out as many teams as possible while at Payes, but in his free time he finds happiness spending time with his gf, family and friends. He also enjoys the humors in life and listens to comedy concerts. He hopes to cruise around the world someday but will settle for light traveling and the holidays at Disneyland.
